About Us:
Meghan Hague, Publisher
Meghan started her career in Toronto at Ryerson University and learned the ropes at both McClelland & Stewart and Tundra Books. She later went on to work for Key Porter Books, where she trained in Production and Distribution.
In 2006, Meghan returned to her hometown of Vancouver, BC and respectively managed the Production Departments of both Raincoast Books and Whitecap Books, where she oversaw production for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Miga, Quatchi, and/et Sumi (VANOC 2010 children’s picture book).
Meghan introduced award-winning talent Emily Mullock to the publishing world. Emily’s first title, Go Away, Unicorn, was the debut title for the McKellar & Martin list.
Tonya Martin, Publisher
Tonya began her journey in Maryland, then headed north to Philadelphia, where she earned a BA in Communications/Journalism at Temple University. While in Philadelphia, she worked in production at Temple University Press, and later as an editor at Current Science, a UK-based medical publisher. Tonya then landed in New York City, and the children’s book publishing world there, where she is best known for her work at Scholastic Incorporated, which included three of K.A. Applegate’s top-selling series (Animorphs, Everworld, and Remnants), R.L Stine’s Give Yourself Goosebumps franchise, The Ripley’s Believe It Or Not license, and many others.
During her time in the Canadian book publishing world, Tonya was Editorial Director of Children’s Books at Raincoast Books, and Editorial Director at House of Parlance Media, where she first worked with award-winning, best-selling author and storyteller Richard Van Camp.
Meghan and Tonya met during their time at Raincoast Books, and soon realized that their mutual love of bookmaking resulted in some pretty amazing titles. It was only a matter of time before they decided to acquire and create books on their own. The result is the McKellar & Martin Publishing Group, Limited.
“McKellar & Martin” is a tribute to Meghan’s grandmother, Mary, and Tonya’s father, Clifton, both of whom were guiding influences in their lives and career choices.
The McKellar & Martin Publishing Group, Limited, is a proud member of The Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (ABPBC), The Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP), and the Arts Council of New Westminster.
